The crossing from Harlingen-Terschelling

The ferry service between Harlingen and Terschelling is run by Rederij Doeksen. Every day, the ferry 'Friesland' brings the many passengers, cars and bicycles to and from the island. The crossing takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes. On board the Friesland are various lounges with self-service buffet restaurants, a children's area, a bar and an à la carte restaurant. An alternative to the Friesland is the express crossing on the comfortable catamarans Tiger and Koegelwieck, which takes 45 minutes between Harlingen and Terschelling. These boats also run a service between Terschelling and Vlieland. The express service does not take cars or bicycles.

Want to take your car to Terschelling?

Then you will need to book your crossing in advance via www.rederij-doeksen.nl. Cars are only transported via the ferry service (not via the express service). Car drivers must check in at the vehicle ticket office at least 30 minutes before departure. Your car will be positioned on the ferry according to its dimensions. To ensure a swift embarkation, be sure to follow the instructions of the ferry personnel.

Transport from the harbour to the hotel

The island has a large number of taxis which can bring you to the hotel. They will be waiting at the harbour on your arrival at Terschelling. In the unlikely event that no taxis are available when you arrive, you will only need to wait just a short while. The distances on the island are small, so it won't be long before a taxi returns to the harbour to collect you. Buses run throughout the year from West Terschelling to Oosterend, always coordinated with the arrival and departure times of the boats. Every bus service stops at the hotel. From May to November there is also a bus service to the areas West aan Zee and Midsland aan Zee. During holiday periods and on Saturdays there is also a night bus, which runs from 21.00h to 02.00h.

Bicycle hire

Bicycles can be hired from the hotel reception. These are all good quality bicycles with gears. € 8.50 (1 day), € 7.00 per day (2-5 days) and € 35.00 (6 or 7 days). The bicycles at the hotel are supplied by Knop Bicycle Hire. You can also hire a bicycle from Knop directly, at their harbour premises. They also offer a free baggage transfer service to the hotel. Pets

Dogs are permitted in the hotel and in the apartments for an additional fee. Please do not leave your dog alone in your room.

Children

In several of the rooms there is the option to add an extra bed for children. Cots are also available and can be reserved. For children's discounts, please see the tariffs.
